Fried Polenta Cakes
I’ve been feeling pretty zen lately. My life has calmed down and I haven’t been feeling overwhelmed, double booked, or even frayed at the edges, which, let’s be honest, is how most mommies usually feel. Between the weddings, school, and family commitments, I was really coming apart at the seams.
And I wasn’t being a good mother. There. I said it.
Kitchen Sink Salad
My last five posts have all been salads. I’m feeling proud of that and ashamed of that at the same time. On my Mommy Bistro Facebook page I asked what you wanted to see and the answer still, is… salads! I had three ears of corn that I had to use up so I kinda threw a ton of stuff at some arugula and it turned out pretty darned good. The hubby thinks it should be called fiesta salad but I thought this could be the yang to my Kitchen Sink Soup.
Chipotle Skirt Steak Salad
Holy Macarons. What a busy week!
I had my best friend’s little boy for a few days and we had such a great time. Going to the beach, a birthday party, eating way too many sweets and being spoiled rotten by his auntie (me) because that is what aunties DO. Which of course means my house looked like a bomb had gone off. There were toys everywhere, dishes piled up, laundry overflowing, sand everywhere. I love the beach but how is it possible that every time I go, I end up bringing home a good eight gallons with me? Between the wagon, sand toys, and baby buttcracks; the sand took OVER.
Kate’s Crispy Egg Salad
I’ve been busy all day playing hide and seek with the girls and enjoying my little spidergirl. One of my best girlfriends lives in Chicago and works for McDonald’s corporate. When she heard how much my little Buggies loves Spiderman, she sent a HUGE box stuffed with all things Spidey. I mean really; coloring, t-shirts, nail polish, a slip and slide, backpack, sunglasses, the list goes on. Which put Buggies into Spidey-Heaven. She immediately changed out of her adorable tutu dress and into some brown pants and her spidey shirt. And then grabbed her sunglasses and backpack and told me she was off to gymnastics camp.
“Cantaloupe….Got a Date” Salad
As a part of our ongoing healthy dieting, (we did a week of raw…that’s all we could handle!) I came up with this fabulous salad. You think it’s going to be sweet but then you get a little bite of the red onion with the avocado and cantaloupe and it’s fabulous.
Breakfast Berry Salad
This post is going to be short. And so is the recipe. I can’t write some long winded post and follow it with the shortest recipe on the planet.
For a minute I’d like to talk about my beautiful Pixie.
Roasted Vegetable Salad
The hubby had this crazy idea to eat a raw diet for one week. No bacon. No meat of any kind. Shit, nothing COOKED. I thought he was insane. I mean, really. This is the man who physically CANNOT go without protein for breakfast on the weekends. And now he wants to eat raw fruits and vegetables for a WEEK? And this is the girl who loves to cook heart warming, gloriously comforting food. With butter, and cream and all things delicious. But, alas! We are on day three and doing great.
Ahi Tuna Poke
It’s summer here in California. Glorious summer! Our June gloom has burned off and we have moved into the wonderfully beautiful days of summer. The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, my puppy is finally sleeping through the night; everything’s coming up roses! We’ve been very busy with swim classes, gymnastics camp, beach days, and FUN. I love not having to keep a schedule with the girls. I love not setting my alarm and rushing them both out of the house and off to school. I love going with the flow and enjoying whatever life throws at us for the day. It. Is. AWESOME…. DUDE.
